Public Spending Cuts Threaten 1/3 Of Outdoor Centres

| A BBC report claims that 95% of local authority Outdoor Centres are facing funding cuts and up to 1/3 fear for their survival. The report suggests that children from poorer homes may be denied the opportunity to experience outdoor education in the future as parents will be asked to pay the full costs of trips that were previously subsidised by local authority funding. The report interviews Phil Ascough from Upton Warren Outdoor Education Centre and Jane Potter from Worcestershire County Council. |
