Outdoor Centres at risk in funding cuts

Public sector funded Outdoor centres are increasingly being targeted for cuts as more local councils announce their spending reduction plans. North Yorkshire County Council recently announced that the £1m subsidy to the council's outdoor education centres could come to an end. Dorset County Council aims to make £30m savings and mentioned outdoor education centres as one of the youth services that may face cuts. Walsall Council has also announced that it plans to withdraw £500,000 a year funding from its Bryntysilio outdoor education centre in Llangollen, Wales. West Sussex County Council has announced £2m cuts to its youth services which include the Cobnor Outdoor Centre (pictured above).
