Murray House Centre Opens After £200k Investment
12th July 2011
Staffordshire County Council have re-opended their Murray House outdoor education centre after completing a £200,000 investment programme to improve access for disabled children. Murray House, near Swynnerton, dates back to the late 19th century and first opened as an outdoor education centre in 1973. Improvements include the fitting of specialist equipment to help staff cater for children with a range of different needs. Activities available at the 150 bed centre include archery, bush craft and climbing. Canoeing and kayaking is also offered at nearby venues. Specialist lifting equipment has been fitted in the dormitories to assist staff in helping disabled youngsters out of bed. The improvements have been partly funded by the Aiming Higher initiative.
