Irish Ski Resort Gets Go Ahead
19th April 2011
Developers have been given the go ahead to build Europe's largest man made ski resort in Dundalk, Co Louth. Situated close to the M1 Motorway, between the major population centres of Belfast and Dublin, the Altitude Ski Resort will include a 210 metre long main slope and a junior slope for first time skiers and snowboarders. It is estimated that the development will eventually provide around 1,200 full time jobs and 380 part time jobs. Now that Louth County Council has granted planning permission the project will be built by developers Innovative Leisure Systems (ILS) with a planned opening date of November 2012. A 100-bed hostel, indoor concert arena, leisure zone including a cinema, 10-pin bowling and children's zone, as well as shops, restaurants and bars, are also planned as a future development for the site.
