Exeter Indoor Climbing Centre Planned

Exeter's Old Electricity Building, built in 1905 could be transformed into a major new indoor climbing centre by the end of this summer. Officers at Exeter City Council say that permission to change the use of the historic quayside building should be granted, subject to a number of conditions. The report says: "It is considered that the use of the building for an indoor climbing centre and associated activities will meet the criteria as a combined leisure and educational use and accordingly would be acceptable," "Indeed, the proposed scheme would complement the existing uses in the canal basin area for outdoor activities such as rowing, canoeing and the activities associated with the Haven Banks centre." Mr Aaran Eade, former Army fitness said: "Of course we still have to wait until Monday but all the feedback we have received since we thought up this project has been extremely positive,"
